Community Shield!!!

This report may be a day late, but the season's 'Curtain raiser' has been and gone, and Man City have started the season as they left it, with a 3-2 win! I don't want to harp on about being brought up in another era, but the Community Shield just doesn't sound right, for me, it always has been and will be....the Charity Shield!

I must admit, it did take a while for me to get into the game, but glad I stuck with it! So, as it was the first silverware of the season, here are my brief player ratings!

CHELSEA

CECH - 7 - Some may think I am being over generous as he conceded 3, but he couldn't do anything about them, and in the first half, he dealt with everything thrown at him.

IVANOVIC - 5 - Not on the long enough really to have an impact, infact it was his sending off which made the impact! It's a tackle that divides the nation! It was a nasty one, but I think it was more rash then malicious. However, every cloud/silver lining and all that, as he will NOT receive a 3 match ban, as apparently it was a friendly and not a competetive game.

TERRY - 5 - Looking past his best now, and will struggle mentally this season, as the City fans chanted throughout, and it seemed to get to him.

LUIZ - 5 - Always looks like he has a mistake in him, you're never comfortable when you watch him.

COLE - 6 - Not a fan of Cashley, but to be fair, he was the best of the back 4, which became 3! He didn't get forward as much as he normally would.

OBI MIKEL - 5 - I am not a massive fan of Chelsea, but even so, I don't think he is good enough for Chelsea, I just don't see what he offers.

LAMPARD - 6 - Got himself into a few good positions, but other than that, the game seemed to pass him by.

RAMIRES - 7 - Well, as the pundits would say, he has a great engine!! Lucky not to be sent off for a 2nd yellow in injury time.

MATA - 5 - Completely uninvolved!!

HAZARD - 6 - ok debut, no more. I hope his early dive is not a sign of things to come though!!

TORRES - 7 - Wasn't given half decent service, but when he got a chance he took it really well!

Subs - BERTRAND and STURRIDGE - 6 - not given long, but did combine for Chelsea's 2nd goal as Pantimilion spilled Sturridge's shot and Bertrand followed up!

MAN CITY

PANTIMILION - 5 -As a keeper it pains me to give a 5, but whenever I see the fella, I never feel comfortable watching him. It's the same as watching Mucha at Everton! I know as a keeper, it's difficult to play in the odd game, but City really need a better back up for Hart.

ZABALETA - 7 - Solid, no nonsense display.

KOMPANY - 7 - No different from last season, solid as ever.

SAVIC - 5 - Not great last season, so was this a chance to stake a claim, if so, he didn't take it! Was under pressure after getting his yellow early on.

KOLAROV - 6 - Will be pleased he got up from Ivanovic's rash challenge.

YAYA TOURE - 8 - Man of the Match! City will be lost without him, they will need points in the bad before he disappears for the African Nations Cup. Absolute quality player! Great finish.

DE JONG - 6 - Went about his job quietly, which is kind of different for De Jong!!

MILNER - 6 - Yet again, another workhorse performance with no creativity.

TEVEZ - 7 - Looking fit and ready for the season! For that reason, he went into all my fantasy football teams last night!! Great finish

NASRI - 7 - Can't knock his movement, and deserved his goal.

AGUERO - Always a danger, and will probably bag another 20 goals this season, that's if he doesn't get a bruise or 2 on the way!

Subs - CLICHY - 6 - Not much to do such was City's dominance in the 2nd half.
SILVA - 6 - not on long enough, but got a great cheer when he came on!!
DZEKO - N/A - only on for a couple of mins!!
